We've been involved in the golf tourism sector since we first started out twenty three years with Stewart Travel on a tour operator business promoting golf packages to Ireland. In the intervening period we managed our own golf events, the Scottish Golf Classics, developed Celtic Links and then became more involved in golf consultancy helping areas develop their own golf strategies and products and helping golf marketing groups such as Golf Tourism Scotland, Golf Highland, First in Fife, Scotland's West Coast Golf Links and more recently SIGTOA.
When we moved into web design and development it was clear that golf was going to make up a substantial component of our business and over the past decade it has continued to be a growth area for us.
2017 however has been even busier than ever on the golfing front and the first quarter has already seen us upgrade and update half a dozen projects and just about to commence on three others into April.
Early March saw the launch of the upgraded site for the Ayrshire Golf Pass - it was something we launched way back in 2001 offering three rounds of links golf in Ayrshire. The simple promotional site provides information to the visitor on the courses involved and touches on the history. Visual first and compact it captures the essence of the championship courses featured through really strong imagery.
McLaren Travel in Troon is a company that we seem to have had an association with forever. We, in fact, used their services when we operated Celtic Links two decades ago under the much missed founder Roy Anderson. When Roy passed away Stewart Smith took over and we have continued to provide digital services for the business and we were delighted to get this go ahead this month to take the old site and give it a full makeover. Much more appealing and fully responsive and some additions such as a Concierge Desk will follow in the coming weeks.
We first worked with Jamie Montgomery in the development of the First in Fife Golf Pass scheme over fifteen years ago and have continuously worked on that project with 2017 seeing a revamp of that site in January. We were also delighted to be approached to rework the site for his two golf courses at Kinross but ONLY if we got it live within four weeks!
Golf Kinross went live on the 30th of March on time and on budget as they say and we are really delighted with the results. The next stage is to develop key areas including the sponsors pages, build a robust data capture and email marketing strategy and plan a strategic content building plan for corporate golf days and charity events. We are delighted with the results of a four week build and look forward to growing the site on a month by month basis.
March also saw the mapping of two upgrades for diverse but linked projects; Executive Golf and Leisure's site will get a major refresh in April as will the ecommerce store and strategy of the online pro shop of David Fleming at Prestwick Golf Club in Ayrshire. Two projects that give us entirely different challenges to get our heads around.
We love working on golf projects and believe that our understanding of the product and the market gives us an edge when listening to the aims and objectives of golf related businesses.
